BJP releases candidates for Udupi City Municipal Council election

Udupi: The BJP will surely win 28 seats or more out of the 35 seats in the Udupi City Municipal Council, said Raghupathy Bhat, Udupi MLA.

He was speaking after releasing the list of BJP candidates for the upcoming Udupi City Municipal Council election during the press meet at the BJP office. He added that there were several people who wanted to contest in city council election but the issue had been resolved with mutual understanding.

Speaking about the previous administration, he said that the Congress looted the people by overcharging trade license fees. The city municipality used home guards to forcefully renew license fees. During the previous election, the Congress ad mentioned in its manifesto that no garbage collection charges would be applied on the people, there would be no hike in municipal taxes, there would be better street light facilities and so on. But, the Congress ruled the city municipality has failed to fulfill their promises, he alleged adding that the people were fed up with corruption in the city municipality, he said.
