Udupi: The new president and vice president has been elected today for Udupi taluk panchayat.
BJP won the election by the 23 votes out of 41, while Congress got 18 votes.
Sunitha Naik of BJP has been elected as the president (under ST quota). She hails from Hiryadka also Ganesh Kumar, from Udyavara elected as the vice president (general category), here on today itself.
Opposition Congress party candidates who contested the election are Umesh Naik from Neeravara and Srikar Anchan from Katpadi.
Besidfes, election commission was Yogeshwar, AC from Kundapura.
After the election, while speaking to the media, Sunitha Naik stated that priority will be given to the drinking water, roads and toilets of the school.
Moreover, her erstwhile title include- elected as the Hiryadka gram panchayat member, within a year Naik became taluk panchayat member and now as a president for the same.
Naik is from Mumbai, and has two kids, her husband Ananth Naik working as head master of a government school.
While Ganesh Kumar, VP said that availing basic facility for the poor and needy is our aim. He is a businessman and has two kids two kids.
