Karkala: A bike was washed away in an overflowing lake while its rider was proceeding on the Kadtala Tirtottu bridge near Ajekar. The rider Sudha who was heading towards Ajekar from Kadtala had a miraculous escape. The absence of embankment to the bridge is said to be the cause of the mishap.
Traffic on the Nadpalu Road has been affected owing to rise in water levels. Two houses in the area have been surrounded by water and the occupants of the house have been shifted to a nearby school.
Tahsildar Raghavendra has visited the affected area. Even the Fire Service personnel and police personnel are part of the relief operations.
In Irvattur, Chandraraj Adhikari has been partially damaged and the loss has been estimated at Rs 30,000. The house of Narayana Acharya of Mudradi and Susheela at Erlappady Jarkala has suffered damages.
Taluk office sources said the taluk has registered 312.06 mm of rainfall until now.
