Udupi: BJP parliamentarian Shobha Karandlaje has joined the list of critics and lashed out at former chief minister Siddaramaiah for allegedly speaking ill about freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar aka Veer Savarkar.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, October 24, she said, “Siddaramaiah doesn’t and will not understand the sacrifice of Veer Savarkar. Savarkar laid down his life for the country. He fought bravely during India’s freedom struggle. For this, he deserves a Bharat Ratna. Siddaramaiah speaking ill about Savarkar, only shows that he is a mean person and a cheap politician.”
Further lambasting the Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly, Shobha said, “Siddaramaiah knows only to play caste and religion politics for the sake of the vote bank. Mahatma Gandhi and Veer Savarkar don’t need any certificate from him.”
Meanwhile, she urged Siddaramaiah to apologise to the people of the country for speaking against freedom fighters and insulting them just for the sake of political mileage.
