Udupi: Balekudru Hitharakshana Vedike of Balekudru near Udupi staged protest at Belakudru junction near Brahmavar here against the establishment of fish meal processing plant.
The management of the Fish Meal Processing plant tried to start its operations brushing aside the High Court order to shift the location of the plant.
The protesters earlier managed to get orders from the local court against the unit stating how detrimental the plant can be to the environment. However, the Plant management move High Court against the lower court orders. But, the management had a setback as the HC upheld the rights of the people and directed the plant management to shift the operations to some other location. But, the audacity of the plant management to carry on the operation violating the HC order raged the locals who staged a stir.
The Brahmavar police intervened and ensured no untoward incidents took place during the protest.
