Udupi: Two more accused have been arrested and sent to Judicial Custody by the Udupi district police in connection with assault on Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis during a raid on illegal sand mining spots at Kandlur, near Kundapura.
The arrested are Mudasir (30), S/o Ahmed, Kandlur and Shahid (28), S/o Zafer Saheb, Kandlur, Kundapura.
So far 25 accused have been arrested as per the information from District Police.
It may be recalled that Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, Assistant Commissioner Shilpa Nag and Village Accountant Kantharaju were attacked by the illegal sand miners in Kundapur, when the trio undertook a raid to the illegal sand mining spots couple of weeks ago.The incident has grabbed national headlines.
