Udupi: Almost two months after resigning from service citing allegations of “harassment” by a Minister in the State government, former Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupama Shenoy released audio tapes of phone conversations to a leading new channel in New Delhi.
The audio tapes featured four calls which Shenoy has claimed to be the recordings of her phone conversations with P.T. Parameshwar Naik, the then Labour Minister, and her other superiors.
While the first call is from Minister Parameshwara Naik questioning in a raised voice about not picking his previous call, the second call is from the inspector general of police who asks Shenoy to apologise to Naik. The third and fourth calls are from the director general of police who asks her to suggest places for her transfer and then ends up informing her that she was transferred as she had not requested for a specific place.
Shenoy had faced many obstacles while trying to tackle the illegal liquor sale in Kudligi taluk. Anupama submitted her resignation on June 5 which was accepted by the government on June 10.
Now with the audio tapes coming out in the open, it is said that Shenoy has approached the Central home ministry and also submitted a written complaint to home minister, Rajnath Singh.
