Udupi: Flagging off the ‘Greenery Campaign Chariot” Priyanka Mary Francis, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district called upon public to accord importance to waste management process.
The event, organized by Sasthan Friends, Mangalore University R.S.S. unit of Krishnabai Vasudev Shenoy Memorial College, Katpady was held near Chittaranjan Circle here on Friday, December 29.
“Our District is recognized as a role model in the state. To overcome the crisis of waste management in the city, people should in their day-to-day life inculcate the habit of reducing waste production as also use of plastic products, which has already been banned by the state government,” she added while lauding the honest approach of the people in the district towards their work.
Further, she said that despite having constructed homes for people who have migrated into the district from other areas, at Beedinagudde here, these people were not using the same. “We are going to hold meeting regarding the homes for the migrated people in future,” she added.
Dinakar Babu, Zilla Panchayat President and Devaraj Pana, Forest Protection Association President also spoke on the occasion.
Nithyanand Olakkad, Nagarika Samithi Secretary welcomed the gathering. Vinayachandra of Sasthan gave key note address. Jyothi compered the programme. The students of the Katpady college and others were present.
