Udupi: Three accidents were reported within a distance of 2kms at Kinnimulki, Ajjarkad and Udyavara during the night hours on Thursday July 11. Interestingly the accidents took place in quick successions.
Two cars with Karnataka registration and one car with Maharashtra registration were badly damaged in the accidents.
The Maharashtra car was plying towards Mangalore from Udupi when it rolled off the bridge where works were underway. However the driver of the car had fled the scene of the accident and there have been no casualties, confirmed the Udupi traffic police.
Apart from this, a car was found damaged at Ajjarkad, although the whereabout of the owner is not known. Likewise a car was found at Udyavara as well and the Kaup police have registered a case. Further details are awaited.
It is said that due to the ongoing road work and the monsoon it has become difficult to commute on the stretch and despite several accidents, the authorities have not initiated remedial measures.
