Udupi: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, a total of 14 candidates have filed 26 nomination papers between March 19 and March 26 in the Udupi-Chikkamagalruru Lok Sabha constituency.
The candidates are- Shobha Karandlaje (BJP), M. K. Dayanand from (PSS), Suresh Kundar (Uttam Prajakiya Party), P. Gautham Prabhu (Shiv Sena), Pramod Madhwaraj (JDS), Vijaya Kumar from (C P I (M.L.) Red Star), Shekar Havanje (Republican Party of India, Karnataka), P. Parameshwara (Bahujan Samaj Party) and M. K. Ganesh, Gandapathy Shettigar, Sudheer Kanchan, K. C. Prakash, Amrith Shenoy P and Abdul Rehman as independents.
Speaking to media persons at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office in Rajathadri on Tuesday, March 26, the chief returning officer and DC of the Udupi district said that all the filed nomination papers will be scrutinized on March 27, in the presence of all the candidates. The list of candidates will be announced in the afternoon, she added.
The last date to take back the candidature is March 29, before 3 PM. Meanwhile, the symbol of the various candidates will be announced after 3 PM on March 29.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Vidya Kumari and Superintendent of Police Nisha James were present.
