Tumkuru: A convict apparently committed suicide by jumping off the third floor of the court building here on May 26.
The deceased undertrial has been identified as Chandru (29), a resident of Nagalapura Grama Chelur Hobli in Gubbi taluk.
District Superintendent of Police Dr. Divya Gopinath said that a case was booked against him for murder attempt on a 6-year-old child in 2017 at the Chelur Police station. He was brought to the court building as the hearing on the case was scheduled for Saturday at the Additional Sessions Court. Soon after he was brought out of the court house after the hearing was adjourned for another date, he jumped off the building.
Even though Chandru was immediately rushed to the District Hospital, his life could not be saved.
