Tumkur: The Siddaganga Mutt and several other NGO’s are expected to be affected by a rice and wheat crisis in the coming days, as the state government has stopped the supply of both these commodities.
According to reports, the Central government, under its ‘Annapurna’ scheme, was supplying the necessary quantities of rice, wheat and cereals to the Siddaganga Mutt and over 454 other organizations of the state.
Sources in the state government have informed that the supply is being stopped as the state has not yet received the necessary funds from the Centre.
Joint Director of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies Shivalingaiah said that around 16 organizations, including the Siddaganga Mutt, have been affected by this decision.
Speaking to the media, Pontiff of the Siddaganga Mutt Sri Siddalinga Swamiji said, “The Mutt has stock enough to provide food for the devotees and students only for two months. After two months, the situation will be a difficult one. The quantity of rice that the devotees have donated to the Mutt is sufficient only for the next two months, without any issues to the feeding of the children who reside in the Mutt.”
