Tumakuru: In a big relief to JDS supremo H D Devegowda, who is contesting from the Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency, Congress rebel leader S P Muddahanumegowda has decided to withdraw his nomination papers.
Muddahanumegowda is the incumbent MP of Tumakuru. He was elected as a Congress candidate in the year 2014. He was recently denied a ticket as the Congress had allocated the constituency to their alliance partner, the JDS, as part of the seat-sharing agreement.
According to sources, Gowda agreed to withdraw his nomination papers after an assurance from the Congress leadership that he will be made an MLC.
Gowda is expected to make a statement in this regard at noon today.
