Tumakuru: Rebel Janata Dal (S) candidate Zameer Ahmed on Monday said that he would be joining Congress party in December.
Speaking to media persons in Tumakuru after visiting former MLA H Ningappa, he said, ” I have met Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and have received green signal to join the party. Along with me 7 other rebel JDS MLAs will be joining Congress.”
Recently Zameer was in news after he challenged JDS Supremo H D Devegowda that if JD(S) won Chamarajapet constituency he would behead himself.
He had also said that the party leaders H D Devegowda and H D Kumaraswamy had kept him out of the party. “Kumaraswamy daydreams about becoming the chief minister again. He talks about a poll pact with the Congress in private and denies it in public”, he had chided.
H D Devegowda held a mammoth rally in Chamarajpet Assembly constituency of Bengaluru city and said, “Some one told me that I can’t hold a rally in Chamarajpet. But today I have proved that no one can stop me or my party. Chamarajpet is not in Pakistan. I have visited each lane of this constituency in the name of Daridra Narayana rally to send a party activist to Vidhana Soudha. Today the same person is challenging me to hold a rally in his constituency. I have taken the challenge posed by the rebel MLAs and ensure that party will win those constituencies again,” he said.
Hitting at all the 8 rebel JDS MLAs, Gowda stated, “When Kumaraswamy was the chief minister of the state, these leaders used him like never before. Except poisoning, they have committed all kinds of backstabbing on him once the party lost power,” he said.
