Tumakuru: Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G Parameshwar, Small Scale Industries Minister S R Srinivas and other coalition leaders had held a meeting here to discuss preparations for the elections and matter of rebellion within the party was taken up, on Wednesday, March 27.
After the meeting, Srinivas said, “DyCM Parameshwar, myself and other leaders have not come here to discuss about the Congress rebel leader S P Muddahanumegowda, who has filed nomination from the party for the Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency poll, but were here for a meeting regarding the election preparations.”
He expressed confidence saying that the coalition leaders will be successful in taking into confidence Muddahanumegowda and other Congress rebel leader Rajanna, who has also filed nomination from the Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency.
“I am confident that they both will understand the coalition decision and withdraw their nominations.
Srinivas said, “We are sure that the Janata Dal (S) Supremo and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda will definitely win. He is not contesting as a prime ministerial candidate but has entered the fray to strengthen Rahul Gandhi's leadership.”
Commenting on the questions by Rajanna on ‘red light area’, Srinivas said that he was a senior leader and refrained from commenting on it.
Earlier today, Rajanna had asked the coalition leaders whether Tumakuru constituency was a ‘red light area’, where anyone can come and go. He had made this statement attacking HDD.
