Tumakuru: The political developments in the district do not seem to go in favour of the Congress and Janata Dal (S) state collation right from the day JDS Supremo H D Deve Gowda was fielded as the coalition candidate from the Lok Sabha constituency here. Former MP Muddahanumegowda who was the sitting MP was not given the ticket to contest due to which internal differences arose, even though things looked fine within the state coalition, at the outset. After HDD lost the Lok Sabha poll against Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Basavaraju, an upset former MLA K C Rajanna had lashed out at the coalition leaders. JDS MLA Gowri Shankar had retaliated against Rajanna. Now, yet again, Rajanna has pounced on the Congress party.

On Monday, May 27, he barged into the district Congress office and verbally attacked the District Congress President R Ramakrishna, alleging that some of the party workers had planned a protest against him.

According to the reports, posters saying, “Parameshwar Hatao, Congress Bachao (expel Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G Parameshwar and save Congress) were stuck on roadsides, provoking the Dalit organisations. It was also suspected that Ramakrishna was behind this.

When Rajanna came to know of this through the party sources, he gatecrashed into the district Congress office today and took Ramakrishna to task.

He told Ramakrishna that because of leaders like him, the Congress was facing such bad days.

Meanwhile, speaking to media, Rajanna opined, “The days of state coalition are numbered. It should have been dissolved much earlier but It will collapse soon after Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi takes oath in Delhi. My close associates have informed me that a high level meeting is already on within the BJP. In my opinion, the coalition government will last only till June 10.”

Slamming DyCM Parameshwar he said, “This ‘Zero Traffic’ minister will become ‘no one’ in another week and we from Congress will do that. I personally had helped him to win the election and I wanted him to be the chief minister of the state. When he was given the DyCM, post I thought it was still fine. I was expecting him to develop the district. What has he done till date? What is his contribution? Why should I consider him the DyCM?”

“The reason for the worst performance of the state coalition is Parameshwar. Actually, the state coalition was not supposed to lose but he ensured it. This person who has no sense or courtesy, God will not spare such people and this is exactly what has happened in the general election”, he added.
