Tumakuru: Live-streaming of marriage is not something unusual for couples in today’s times, where social media is often used to post picture-perfect moments of our lives.

A couple from Tumkuru too decided to live-stream their marriage on Facebook, however in this case it was to document the proof of their consensual marriage and avoid any false accusations that the couple feared would come their way later.

On Friday, Kiran Kumar(25) and Arpita(19), who had been in a relationship for nearly two years tied the nupital knot at a temple much against the wishes of their family. Notably, both the couple are majors and free to choose their life-partners.

In the video, Arpita says that she eloped from her house, on Thursday evening as her father, a politician in Madhugiri was pressurising her to file a police complaint against Kumar and had even gotten her to sign the complaint form.

Not wanting to be implicated in a case of abduction as Arpita’s father had threatened to file, the couple decided that they would live stream their marriage since it would rubbish any false charges levelled against them.

The police are however waiting to record Arpita’s statement as her father has gone ahead and filed a missing complaint. Meanwhile the couple have gone into hiding till they get an assurance that they wouldn’t be separated forcibly.
