Tumakuru: In a ghastly road mishap, seven persons lost their lives after a bus rammed into a parked lorry, at Shira near Tumakuru, during wee hours of Monday.
Anusha (7), Savita (20), Rathnamma (38), Shankar (35), Ashwatnarayana (50) have been identified as the deceased while the identities of two more have not been ascertained. It has been found that deceased are all residents of Shira and Pattanayakanahalli.
It is said that a total of 30 persons had ventured on a pilgrimage on an hired private bus and were returning after completing darshan at Siganduru and Chaudeshwari. During the wee hours, the driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into a halted lorry. While three died on the spot, four died in the hospital. At least 20 others have suffered severe injuries.
The injured have been rushed to Shira govt hospital.
