Tumakuru: As many as four died in a horrific bus-lorry collision at the National Highway 48 of Rangapur, on Sunday, November 3.
According to the reports, the National Travels bus which was travelling from Belagavi towards Bengaluru had rammed into an oncoming lorry, leaving three passengers and a lorry cleaner dead on the spot.
The impact was such that 13 passengers were critically injured and the lorry had struck a wall of the service road and toppled.
Circle Inspector Ramakrishna and PSI Lakshya of Tumakuru Rural Police Station had rushed to the spot to assess the situation.
Meanwhile, the sources said that the lorry driver escaped from the spot. The lorry laden with soap boxes toppled leaving soaps scattered all over. People rushed to the spot to grab as much soap as they could rather than helping the injured passengers.
They also said that the police were helpless as the public was stealing the soap boxes right in front of them.
