Facebook added a video calling feature to its Messenger app on Monday, which lets friends on the social network have face-to-face calls over wi-fi or wireless networks.

The feature is being rolled out on Facebook’s Messenger app for iOS and Android devices. Other apps with video-conferencing capabilities include Apple FaceTime, Google Hangouts and Skype.

Facebook is rolling out the video calling feature in 18 countries, which includes the US, UK and France. Other countries and regions will be receiving this feature over the span of a few months, wrote Stan Chudnovsky, head of product for Messenger and Param Reddy, engineering manager in the blog announcing the feature. The post also notes that Facebook Messenger has a user base of 600 million users worldwide.

Video calls can be initiated by hitting the video button on the app, next to the dialer icon on the top hand right.

Facebook had previously added the option of sending money to friends, launched the messenger platform for developers, and added a Facebook for businesses
