UT Khader to soon inaugurate Smart City project in Shivamogga

Shivamogga: Various developmental projects will soon be undertaken in Shivamogga, under the Smart City project, assured MLA KS Eshwarappa after due discussions were held with Urban Development Minister UT Khader and Health Minister Shivanand Patil.

Addressing media persons at the BJP head office on Thursday, June 14 Eshwarappa said that even though its been three years since Shivamogga made it to the Smart city list, no projects have been initiated in the city. “Every year, both the State and Central Government contribute a sum of Rs 100 cr each for the project. In past three years, the Central Government has granted Rs. 300 crore under the project but no works has commenced yet,” he said adding that a meeting will be held with all officers concerned and an action plan will be drawn up.

The public consultation would also be held shortly on the execution of the same, he said.

Despite changing three contractors, owing to their lack of efficiency the underground drainage work in the city is incomplete. The UGD works need to be executed efficiently and hence we will call a meeting to discuss the issues and find out a way to complete the project, the MLA said.
Housing projects for needy will be launched with central and state coordination through subsidies and bank loans.

He also informed that his new office will be inaugurated on June 21 at Shivappa Nayaka Market building. A meeting will be held with officials to discuss all issues pertaining to smart city project.

Rural MLA Ashok Naik, Devdas Naik, KG Kumarswamy, DS Arun, S Jnaneshwar, NG Nagraj, Anitha Ravishankar, Madhusudan, Ratnakar Shanai, Hirannayya, Annappa were present.
