Shivamogga: “As the smart city work is under rapid progress, in order to boost up the developmental activities I will have a discussion with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and ensure that an additional Rs 10 crores is made available," said Urban Development Minister U T Khader, here on Sunday, February 24.
He spoke during the stone laying ceremony of smart city project worth Rs. 400 crores at Gopi circle.
Khader then laid stone for projects such as main road development of Gandhinagar, development of Gandhi park, Ravindra Nagar, development of conservancy in the Channappa Layout, Tank Mohalla development at Rs. 45 lakhs and many other projects.
After the stone laying ceremony, Khader said, “It is the duty of every businessman and businesswoman to contribute towards the smart city project in order to make Shivamogga city a model city. The main aim of the project is to provide basic facilities to the people”.
MLA of Bharatiya Janata Party K S Eshwarappa said, “It is necessary on the part of the government to sanction atleast Rs. 25 crores for the developmental projects regarding smart city and it is also necessary to complete the work well in time”.
MLC R Prasanna Kumar said, “It is a balanced project, which has an equal contribution from the state as well as the Centre, and this city is at the forefront of the project. Any faults or loopholes found must be informed to the local representative and the officials”.
CEO of Zilla Panchayat Jyoti S Kumar, president of Karnataka Biodiversity Board S P Sheshadri, Deputy Commissioner K A Dayanand, Commissioner of Shivamogga City Corporation Charulatha Somal and others were present.
