Shivamogga: “Tipu Sultan is a symbol of the dream of ‘Akhand Bharath’ (One India), bravery, tolerance, best administration and many more”, said Assistant Professor of Tarikere Government First Grade College, Dr. Sabita Bannadi.
Speaking on the occasion of Tipu Jayanti, organised by the Kannada and Culture Department, district administration, zilla panchayat, city corporation and different organisations of the district, Dr. Bannadi said, “Tipu was the one who introduced arms and ammunition in the Mysuru army and with utmost skills, he had also introduced the first rocket missiles in the army, to fight against the British.”
She said that Tipu had protected Malabar, Mangaluru and Kodagu from the attack of British and had treated every individual equally, irrespective of their caste, religion, sects, etc.
Dr. Bannadi also said, “Tipu had financially helped 56 religious centres and was also applauded by the foreign delegates, who had visited India.”
She presented a picture through her speech on the love towards science and literature that Tipu had. She said that he was an employer and had provided occupation to many and helped in the development of water management system too.
MLC Prasanna Kumar said, “Tipu is a true patriot. The land revenue system which was implemented by him is still in practice. He has also contributed towards constructing dams.”
Deputy Commissioner K A Dayanand, President of Zilla Panchayat Jyoti S Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Sangappa and others were present.
