Shivamogga: T G Rajegowda took over as the new president for the Malnad Area Development Board (MADB) here on Monday, January 28.
After taking over he said that he would work according to the authority norms.
Rajegowda said, “Rs 150 Crore was allotted for MADB by the chief minister this time in the Belagavi session. Rs 1 Crore has been allotted to each of the MLA and MLC constituencies and efforts are on for more funds.”
“Construction of footbridge would be given highest priority. Around Rs 100 Crore is already allotted for the project by the CM and for Chikkamagaluru, Rs 24 Crore is already released”, he added.
He assured of giving importance to upgrading basic facilities in schools, colleges, hospitals and other buildings.
Rajegowda said that a decision would be taken regarding keeping the semi-Malnad areas out of the boards’ jurisdiction.
He also assured of necessary arrangements in the hospitals for ‘Monkey Fever’ treatment.
“There are 137 members in the board in which there are 12 Lok Sabha members, 65 Legislative Assembly, 23 Legislative Council, 13 Zilla Panchayat presidents, 10 nominated from government and 10 deputy commissioners”, said Rajegowda.
“For the year 2018-19, Rs 27 Crore has been released by the government. Currently Rs 52 Crore is available with the board including the partially spent funds”, he added.
Commissioner of Shivamogga City Corporation Charulatha Somal, Executive Engineer Ganapathy and others were present.
