Shivamogga: In connection with a case of illegal purchase of land, the Shivamogga Lokayukta Court on Tuesday issued summons to BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa and his son Shikaripur MLA B Y Raghavendra.

A complaint was lodged by Vinod B, a city-based advocate. The complainant alleged that Dhavalagiri Properties, the firm for which family members of Yeddyurappa were members, had purchased 69 acres of land near Hunasekatte Junction in 2009 by violating the existing laws.

In the complaint, Vinod alleged that land was classified as forest land and that various provisions of the Forest Act and the Karnataka Land Reforms Act were violated in the transaction.

Vinod alleged that Yeddyurappa who was Chief Minister the, had misused his power in the transaction and hence action must be taken against BSY and his son under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The summons was issued by the court after taking cognisance of the complaint against BSY and his son and has asked them appear for the hearing.

The next hearing of the case is scheduled to May 17.
