Shivamogga: Students from various colleges held a rather unique kind of protest against bad roads in the city on Friday, October 25. Roads across the city have been riddled with gaping potholes and the administration has turned a blind eye towards them.
Led by student leader Vinay Rajawat, the group of protesters met at Park Extension and pretended to carry out farming activities on the dilapidated roads.
The protesters planted paddy saplings in the potholes to mock the negligence of authorities. They shouted slogans against Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Minister KS Eshwarappa, and District MP BY Raghavendra. Students also questioned as to why Shivamogga was suffering when it was is the home town of the state's CM himself.
A section of the students also pretended to fish using fishing rods. All in all, the unique protest grabbed a lot of attention.
Later, speaking to media, Rajavat said that the politicians were busy gobbling money meant for developmental projects and that is precisely why their constituencies were suffering.
He further said that a letter written in blood will be sent to the Prime Minister of India through the local Deputy Commissioner in order to draw the attention of the PM towards the mismanagement here.
Banjara Students' Association President Girish and others were present at the protest.
