Stern action against trouble makers during SCC polls: Shivamogga DC

Shivamogga: The district administration is all set to hold free and fair elections to the Shivamogga City Corporation, on August 31 and Deputy Commissioner K Dayananda, in this regard has warned trouble mongers of stern action.

Addressing media at his office on Wednesday, the DC said that all safety measures are in place to ensure peaceful elections.

Total 35 wards are going in for elections with the total of 2,74,218 voters, out of which 1,35 524 are male and 1,38 673 are female voters. As many as 303 voting booths have been set up, out of which 86 are sensitive, 21 are hyper-sensitive and 196 are normal booths.

A total of 320 polling officers, 320 assistant officers, 640 polling staff, 303 assisting staff, 303 police staff outside Shivamogga taluk will be deployed for the election procedures.

“No violation of model code of conduct has been reported till date and if anyone notices such breach can report to 9148585855,” the DC said and added that voters’ slips will be issued to listed voters by the Block Level Officers even on the day of election outside respective polling booths. Any of the 22 identified IDs specified by Election Commission can be used in case of non-availability of voters ID.

On September 3, the counting will be held at Sahayadri College of Arts and two strong rooms, seven counting halls, 49 counting tables, 147 counting staffs are assigned for the job.

Section 144 will be in place on counting day in and around the counting area, he said. ADC Chanappbassapa was present.
