Shivamogga: “Nobody wants to be a criminal. Criminals are created due to some situations. There are three types of criminals – those who wish to continue as criminals, those who wish to stop and those who are in a dilemma of whether to continue or not," said Superintendent of Police K M Shantharaju.
Addressing the rowdy sheeters’ parade at the DAR Police Grounds on Sunday, October 20, he warned them by saying, “All the three types of criminals must introspect and go through self-realization. Do not train anyone to become a criminal. We keep a track of each one of you, what you are up to and what you do. It is better if you correct yourselves.”
Further, he said, “Some have told us that even though they are aging, their cases have been kept pending. To make it very clear, it is not how things run. Even though you all are growing old, you all should not allow your juniors to grow and be a part of crime. You all should prove in action that you have realized your mistakes and convince us. If this is done, then you all will be made free from all cases legally.”
“If you want to provide any information, you can speak to the police department. But that doesn’t give you leniency to continue your criminal activities and say 'the police will allow us to do anything because we are informers'. Things don't work that way. If we get to know that any one of you is involved in any civil dispute, we will take legal action against you and take you to the court," the SP warned.
Additional SP H T Shekhar said, “All the rowdy sheeters must attend their court hearings without fail. By your positive actions we can conclude that you have realised your mistakes and can prove that you are innocent.”
Around 238 rowdy sheeters participated in this parade.
