Shivamogga: The progressive thinkers of the district lodged a complaint with the Bengaluru Commissioner of Police alleging that false allegations about Dinesh Amin Mattu were being circulated on the social media on June 4.
They claimed that certain individuals were spreading a false claim that Dinesh Amin had “issued a ‘supari’ (contract to kill) for killing Rohith Chakrathirtha.” The letter asserted that the allegations were baseless.
In the complaint, the progressive thinkers also demanded an impartial inquiry into the spread of such misinformation that could potentially harm the peace in the state. The letter was signed by freedom fighter H S Doreswamy, G K Govinda Rao, Dr. K Marulasiddappa, and former IAS officer Chiranjeevi Singh among others.
Dinesh Amin Mattu had recently filed a complaint at the D J Halli Police Station here about the false claims spreading on Facebook and other social media platforms.
