Shivamogga: A teacher has been put behind bars under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, based on a complaint filed against him for sexually harassing a girl student.

According to sources, a science teacher of a government school asked three class VIII girls students to clean the classroom. After some time, he asked two of them to step outside, leaving one of the girls behind alone with him. He is then said to have put his hands around her shoulder and asked her to kiss him. The now frightened girl managed to flee the classroom.

Six days after the incident occurred, the student filed a complaint against her teacher in the Shikaripur Rural Police Station on Friday, November 1.

In her complaint, the girl said that the trauma from the incident left her mentally disturbed, which was why she filed the complaint late.
