Objectionable TV content can be reported through complaint cell: DC Shivakumar

Shivamogga: “If anybody finds any objectionable content on the television, a complaint cell is being made available for the public to file their complaints,” said Deputy Commissioner K B Shivakumar.

Chairing a meet of the Cable Television Management Committee at the his office on Tuesday, December 3, he said, “A Circle Inspector has been appointed as the officer to address public grievances. Written complaints at the district-level can be submitted to the senior assistant director of Department of Information and Public Relations.”

“If TV commercials or any other content that degrades women and children or incites hatred between communities, abusive contents etc, such can be reported to the concerned officials by filing a complaint,” he added.

Further, he said, “Local channels can broadcast local news, but such shows should be entered in a register at their office and a record shall be maintained for the year. These records must be produced when concerned officialsask for them.”

Senior assistant director of the Department of Information and Public Relations, Shafi Saduddin, Additional SP Dr Shekhar H T and others were present.
