Shivamogga: The NSUI held a protest on May 17 against the decision of Governor of Karnataka inviting B S Yeddyurappa to form the government.
The NSUI members congregated near the statue of Dr. B R Ambedkar in front of Shivamogga City Corporation on Friday, flashing a black ribbon tied to their arms as a symbol of protest.
The protestors accused Governor Vajubhai Vala of being a “puppet of BJP.” They alleged that the decision to invite BSY to form government was a “mockery of the Indian Constitution” and raised slogans denouncing the Governor for it.
They demanded that Vajubhai Vala be removed from the post as he was “unfit to hold the post of Governor.”
In the dramatic post poll developments Governor of Karnataka invited BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa and administered oath as the 23rd Chief Minister as he was the leader of the single largest party with 104 seats. The Governor also gave BSY an unprecedented 15 days time to prove majority on the floor of the house.
However, Congress and JDS post-poll alliance claimed that they had the clear majority and they should form the government with JDS State President H D Kumaraswamy as their CM.
In the meantime, Supreme Court has ordered the BSY government to prove its majority on the floor by 4 PM on May 19. As of now, the high drama surrounding government formation still continues.
