Shivamogga: Two women were arrested by the Jayanagar Police for fleeing with jewellery from Mythri Jewellers on Thursday, October 10.
Police officers apprehended the two women after their location was obtained from a nearby mobile tower.
The accused have been identified as Gangamma alias Shubhamangala and Preeti. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the two women are mother and daughter, and that they are residents of Kaduru. Police have also established that no other person was involved in the crime.
It is said that the mother-daughter duo entered the jewellery store under the pretense of ordering customised jewellery. When one of the store’s employees refused to sell them the jewellery at a lower price, the two women reportedly fled from the scene with the jewellery.
The accused were remanded to police custody after being presented before a court.
