Shivamogga: In a shocking incident, cages with monkeys were found outside Aralasurali GP in Shivamogga on Monday.

The entire district has been facing a monkey menace and many have raised this issue with the elected representatives. Even Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had spoken about the same during his last visit and had promised to establish a Monkey Park to curb the menace.

However, with the monkeys continuing to harass the people, this looks to be an attempt by the locals to turn the authorities’ attention towards the existing problem.

On Monday, as many as 70 captured monkeys were caged and left outside the GP. Many are viewing this as a new and unique way of protesting against the inaction of the authorities.

It is said that the forest officials, who came to the spot, took away the cages and freed the monkeys at the Agumbe ghat.
