Shivamogga: The difference in political style over the years has not gone unnoticed by many. While some choose to follow their leaders, some are critical and are open about their displeasure.
Commenting on the drastic change in political styles, Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Chief Secretary of the Indian National Congress called out the Prime Minister for being a “party Prime Minister” rather than a “Prime Minister of the country”.
Azad was addressing a huge gathering at N T Road here on May 6, where he accused the Central government of playing “kitchen politics”.
“They are deciding what we can cook and what we can eat. How can it be like this in a democratic country? Our Constitution says that each individual is free to practice their own religion and have their own beliefs. Who are they to decide our lives?” asked Azad.
Denying the party having any grudge against the BJP, Azad spoke of the time when Atal Bihari Vajpaye was the Prime Minister. “There was no communal tension at that time. And now there is communal hatred politics. Why was that started? The common man needs peace, safety, education, health, food etc.,” he added and requested that the people vote for the Congress government and make Siddaramaiah Chief Minister once again so that he can continue his people friendly developmental programmes.
“Vote for Prasanna Kumar K B as your MLA,” he said.
During the occasion, Ghulam Nabi Azad was felicitated.
Prominent party leaders and leaders of various other organizations were present on the dais alongside some Congress supporters.
