Shivamogga: "Narendra Modi is a visionary leader. His capability is not just limited to solving problems. He also ensures that the problem does not surface again. Such a leader should once again become the prime minister of India," said Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Nirmala Sitharaman was speaking after inaugurating the 'Mahila Samavesha' (Women's Conference) organised by the Shivamogga District Women's Bharatiya Janata Party at the city's NES ground, on Monday, April 15 ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking at the event, the defence minister said, "As many as 150 innocent people died during the 2008 Mumbai attack. If the then government had retaliated and shown the power of the Indian Army to Pakistan, India would have not faced a tragic event like the Pulwama attack. PM Modi took a bold decision in 2016 and ordered the Indian Army to carry a 'Surgical Strike' on the terrorist camps of Pakistan occupied Kashmir, which was a haven for the terrorists. In 2019, he once again ordered a 'Surgical Strike' on Pakistan's Balakot, where the Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bombers where being trained, and the Indian Air Force completely destroyed the terrorist camp. The Bharatiya Janata Party has never politicised the security of the nation. The Modi government has given a befitting reply to the terrorist attacks. All this was possible by giving more freedom to the Indian Army."
"Modi is not just focused on the Army but also concerned about the farmers of our country. He has announced an annual subsidy of Rs 6,000 for small-time farmers. But the coalition government of Karnataka has deprived the farmers of the subsidy, by delaying in submitting the list of farmers eligible for the subsidy," she added.
"Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, Manmohan Singh have all said that they will eradicate poverty but that has never happened. The Congress party talks about eradicating poverty only during the elections. But PM Modi is determined to turn India from a developing country to a developed country. He works for the country as a 'Pradan Sevak' not 'Pradan Mantri' and he deserves a second term. Vote for BJP candidate B Y Raghavendra and send him to Delhi as your representative," said Nirmala Sitaraman.
BJP candidate for Shivamogga constituency, B Y Raghavendra said 'Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana', 'Ujjwala Yojana', increase in maternity leave, ban of triple talak and many such schemes have been introduced for the welfare of the women by the BJP government. Narendra Modi should once again become the prime minister to ensure women's empowerment."
Senior BJP leader and the Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, K S Eshwarappa, former speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Council, D S Shankar Murthy, District BJP President Rudre Gowda, party leaders Ayanur Manjunath, Kageri, Bharathi Shetty, Hartalu Halappa, Kumar Bangarappa, Ashoka Naika, K G Kumaraswamy and many others were present.
