Life term for man for killing wife

Shimogga:  The Principal District and Sessions judge has awarded life imprisonment to a man for killing his wife over a dispute related to selling agricultural land.

Syed Ali, resident of Chikkajambur, a village in Shikaripur taluk, had been arrested on the charge of killing his wife Dilshan Khanum on September 22, 2014.

It is said that Syed Ali had raised a loan from various sources and had planned to repay the same by selling one acre of agriculture land owned by his family. However, his wife prevented him from selling the land, which was the primary source of income of the family.

An altercation took tragic turn when in fit of rage, Syed Ali assaulted Dilshan rendering her dead.

The police had booked a case under section 302 of Indian Penal Code against him.

As the charges leveled against him were proved, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment and also slammed a fine of Rs. 50,000 on him.
