Shivamogga: BJP leader K S Eshwarappa hurled a scathing criticism at the Karnataka Chief Minister-elect H D Kumaraswamy over the issue of farm loan waiver on May 22.
Speaking to the media at the BJP’s Shivamogga headquarters, Eshwarappa said that Kumaraswamy was backtracking from the promise of complete farm loan waiver promised in the “bogus election manifesto” of the JDS.
Eswarappa demanded Kumaraswamy to resign from the “totally opportunist government” if he could not fulfill his promises made to the farmers. He claimed that the Congress-JDS coalition cannot form government as there were visible internal rifts and squabble for the post of deputy chief minister. He foretold that the presidential rule may be offing in Karnataka soon.
Claiming that the Hindutva agenda of the party won them more seats this time around Eswarappa said “Indian culture must prevail here.”
Further he promised, “I have been elected by a huge margin. I respect people’s mandate and will concentrate on developing Shivamogga into a model city.”
At the same time, the BJP fielded former MP Aynur Manjunath as the its candidate for South-West Graduates Consituency and present MLC Capt. Ganseh Karnik for South-West teachers Constituency.
“Going by our performance in the recent Assembly election, we are confident of winning the Legislative Council elections”, Eswarappa added.
