Shivamogga: Mahatma Gandhi’s assassinator Nathuram Godse is in the news as several leaders have come in support of him, however, Sri Rama Sene Founder Pramod Muthalik has justified the assassination saying that he too would have been compelled to lift the arms, if he lived in Gandhian era.
Muthalik said that though he supports principles of truth and non-violence that Mahatma stood for, his principles and policies were leaving the Hindus in a lurch. “Assassination of Gandhi was an unpardonable crime, but if I lived in Gandhi’s time, then even I would have picked the arms,” said Muthalik, speaking to media persons here on Thursday.
He said, “I do not defend his (Nathuram Godse) action, but he was a patriot. The statements made by BJP MPs Pragya Singh, Nalin Kumar Kateel and Anantkumar Hegde are right. Islamic terrorism has become a threat to world peace. Everyone is aware of this.”
