Shivamogga: The stage is almost set for the Lok Sabha by polls 2019. However, the villagers of Hadonahalli are not happy about it. The Hadonahalli villagers have decided to boycott the Lok Sabha by polls, due to inadequate response and negligence of the developmental projects in their village.

The villagers have collectively blamed all the political parties which have come to power till date for not having shown any concern.

They allege that the government is not taking any action against the illegal sand extraction and mining that is taking place in the name of Upper Tunga project. Due to this, the roads are destroyed, say the villagers.

Also two years ago, in a tragic boat incident, many had lost their lives and till date, the government has not responded, they lament.

The villagers have also strongly reacted against the UTP Company doing sand extraction in the area. When the villagers needed some amount of sand for various purposes, the company is said to have troubled them.

They have also alleged that the huge trucks which carry tonnes of sand, pass through areas where there are schools and temples. A child died coming under such a truck, a year ago, they added.

The mid portion of Holur and Chilur road is completely filled with potholes and the 4 km stretch has made it worse for the movement of vehicles. Recently, a school bus which was travelling through the same stretch reportedly collided against an electric pole while avoiding a pothole. Fortunately, none was injured or dead, as there was no power that time, they recalled.

The lands are also being used illegally for sand extraction. The JCBs too have destroyed the borewells which were in use for cultivation. When asked about this, the company personnel allegedly turn rogues.

Lastly, the villagers have said that there was no proper transport facility for children going to school, as the buses are scarcely found.

The villagers have requested the Election Commission and the government, not to appoint any polling officer and conduct any elections, sarcastically stating that they could cut down the election expenditure. They ridiculed that the government to consider this as a present.
