Shivamogga: Tears rolled down Nazrath Ali’s face as he rolled his wheelchair-bound son Dilshan down the street that led to the Shivamogga District Collector’s office. They were moving from pillar to post to get a free bus pass promised by the government for the differently abled persons.
Nazrath Ali resides in Ashraya Badavane in Shikaripur which is 50 kilometres away from the district headquarters.
On July 23, Nazrath along with his son had approached the DC with a complaint that his son could not go to school because he was not being issued a free bus pass by the transportation department officials. The DC, who responded to their pleas, instructed the transportation officials to look into the matter immediately.
Armed with DC’s letter, Nazrath says they went to the transport department with the hope that the issue will be solved quickly. However, he alleges that the officials at the transport department bluntly refused to issue a bus pass despite DC’s orders.
Angry and disappointed, Nazrath says he was left with no option but to protest in front of DC’s office.
Nazrath says this is not the first time he has knocked on the district administration’s doors. He has petitioned the DC and the local leaders numerous times earlier. However, in spite of the assurances his son is yet to get a bus pass, he exclaims.
