Shivamogga: The mutated strain of coronavirus was detected in the samples of the family of four who had recently returned to the district from UK and had tested positive for Covid-19.
Due to the spread of the mutated strain, the return of the members from the UK had caused the district to be placed under high alert.
The family returned from UK on December 22 and was confirmed positive for COvid-19 on December 23. Their samples were initially sent to NIMHANS in Bengaluru and were later sent over to Pune for further testing.
ICMR 5 expressed doubt over the presence of the mutated strain of coronavirus in the family members. After due tests, they tested positive for the mutated coronavirus. Health Minister, K. Sudhakar said that there are three primary contacts associated with this case.
