Shivamogga: Death of a person in Sunnadakoppa village of Shikaripura taluk here has left a sense of suspicion among the villagers.
A man named Lakshman Nayaka died on March 28 and his family members have alleged that he has died due to police atrocities.
Addressing a news conference in connection to the same, Superintendent of Police K M Shantharaju said that a probe has been initiated into the case and details of the reasons that caused the death will be clear only after the Post Mortem report is out.
He said that Nayaka and his son Ramachandra were spotted by the police loitering during lockdown in a luggage auto and the police had sent the duo away by asking them not to venture out of their home unnecessarily.
However, it was said that Nayaka collapsed in the auto after a while and the family members of Nayaka.
The family members of Nayaka have now held the police responsible for the death and have specifically alleged that the police had assaulted Nayaka, which resulted in his death.
