Shivamogga: In the next three years, parents will stand in line to ensure that their children join a government school, said Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar.

He was speaking at the centenary celebrations of a government school in Sagar taluk, Shivamogga on Friday, February 28. The minister also congratulated the school authorities for providing 100 years of education.

Kumar said, “The centenary programme also needs to focus on work and action, there should be equality in providing education among all government schools. Emphasis should be placed on learning and every child must feel happy coming to school. Learning should help children obtain a bright future and the state government has formulated a plan to do that. It will be implemented soon.”

“In metropolitan cities like Bengaluru, even the masses are enrolling their children in private schools. This takes up nearly 40 percent of their income and expenditure. This can be solved by providing quality education in government schools,” he added.
