Shivamogga: As the Belagavi Winter Session begins in the Suvarna Soudha, the Bharatiya Janata Party has begun its protest there against the policies of the coalition government. Countering this, the Congress leaders and party workers attempted to protest in front of the BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa’s residence at Shikaripura, here on Monday, December 10.
A procession began from the Congress and Janata Dal (S) offices in Shikaripura taluk at 11 AM towards BSY’s residence.
The protestors shouted slogans against BSY along the streets and returned to Taluk Office at 12 PM.
Speaking on the occasion, Congress leader Belur Gopalkrishna said, “BSY had targeted Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and had criticised him as ‘Weeping CM.’ Similarly when he was the CM and Shobha Karandlaje had resigned from her minister spot, he had wept so much saying that was it worth to be CM without her.”
He also asked, “Do we wish to have a CM who cries for a woman or a CM who cries for our farmers?”
The protest meet went on for 1 hour 45 minutes, after which the Congress leaders went on to siege BSY’s residence, during which the police arrested all the Congress leaders and released them after some time.
