DC releases invitation for five-day “Sahyadri Utsav”-1

Shivamogga: “The ‘Sahyadri Utsav’ will be organized from January 23 to 27 with cultural programmes, in which prominent singer Raghu Dixit too will be participating”, said Deputy Commissioner K A Dayanand here on Saturday, January 20.

Releasing the invitation he said, “Novelist and writer Na D’Souza will be inaugurating the five-day extravaganza. District In-charge Minister D C Thammanna will be releasing the special edition and all the other local representatives will also be joining the occasion.”

Programme schedule:
On January 23 around 223 folk artists from the country will be rendering a programme called “Janapada Bharata”. On January 24, around 23 instrumentalists from the district will be performing a programme called “Vadya Nada Vaibhava” with Carnatic and Hindustani jugal bandi.

On January 25, 200 dancers will be showcasing “Kavi-Geeta-Nratya Sambhrama” and “Yakshaganaotsava”. Iginabailu Parameshwara Hegde and team will be rendering “Gowardhana Giridhari” act and Nagabhushan Heggodu and team will be presenting “Drupad Garvabhanga” act of Yakshagana.

On January 26, over 300 school students from different schools will be performing “Folk Mela” and over 75 Sugama Sangeetha singers (light music) under the title “Gaana Sudhe” will perform.

On January 27, H S Gopal and M S Ananth Narayana will be performing Gamak (a music rendition) and Shivananda Swamy and team will be performing keerthans.

On the same day singer Raghu Dixit will be performing for “Sahyadri Sanje”

A different set of programmes like poet forum, agriculture forum, and many others have been lined up.

Water sports and adventure sports are also said to grab the attention of the visitors.

MP B Y Raghavendra, MLC Rudregowda, president of Zilla Panchayat Jyoti S Kumar and others were present.
