DC K A Dayanand rolls out Model Code of Conduct for MP Bypoll election-1

Shivamogga: “As the Election Commission of India (ECI) announces the rolls out the by-poll dates, we have implemented the Code of Conduct from today”, said the Deputy Commissioner of Shivamogga, K A Dayanand, on October 6.

Addressing the media at his office, the DC said, “Election circular will be announced on October 9 and October 16 will be the last day to file the nomination”.

“On October 17, the verification of the nominations filed will be underway and on October 20, it will be the last day for the withdrawal of nominations. The by-poll elections will be conducted on November 3, following the counting on November 6”, he added.

Dayanand said, “We have taken necessary measures to implement the Model Code of Conduct. The canvassing of the political parties, banners, and posters of leaders and so on are said to be removed within 24 hours of the by-poll election commencement”.

“Regarding the same, an order is now circulated, which is already put to task”, he added.

He also said that prior to any political programmes, it is mandatory to avail permission from the concerned authorities.

Explaining the implementation of the model code of conduct, DC K A Dayanand said, “The Model Code of Conduct is already prepared and implemented. According to it, 162 Sector Officers, 9 Accounting Teams, 39 Flying Squads, 37 Spot Surveillance Team, 8 Model Code Officers, 27 Video Surveillance Teams and  7 Video Observation Team are already ready”.

Voters, who are eligible for voting are requested to register their names by October 9, as it is announced as the last date.

Who are 18 years of age by January 1, 2018, are said to be eligible for the by-poll voting. Such are eligible for registration.

  1. Byndoor Assembly Constituency (under Shivamogga Lok Sabha) - 2,22, 003
  2. Shivamogga Assembly Constituency – 2, 10, 997
  3. Bhadravati – 2, 06, 678
  4. Shivamogga City – 2, 56, 236
  5. Tirthahalli – 1,82,663
  6. Sorab – 1,84,492
  7. Sagar – 1,93,758

A total of 16, 45, 511 voters observed in the Shivamogga Lok Sabha Constituency.

Superintendent of Police, Abhinav Khare IPS and Corporation Commissioner, Charulatha IAS, were present in the press meet.
