Shivamogga: “In the district, nobody has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Around 11 people had come from foreign countries. It has been nearly four weeks since four out of the 11 came from foreign countries. These have not been affected by the deadly virus,” said District Health Officer (DHO) Rajesh Suragihalli.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, March 4, he said, “As the 11 had undergone screening at the airport, the officials at the airport directed us to keep an eye on six of them. It is learnt that these had returned to the district in the month of February. Six of them are currently being kept under observation at the District Health and Family Welfare Department.”

“The health officials have already visited their residences and have urged all six of them to maintain distance from other people. The family members and the six at the observation centres have been instructed to follow a certain set of instructions to keep their residence clean and not to move out of their houses,” he added.

Informing about the precautionary measures, Rajesh said, “There is no need for people to panic unnecessarily. If anyone has a fever that doesn’t come under control within 24 hours, they must immediately contact the concerned health officials. By conducting a blood test, the presence of the virus can be ascertained.”
