Shivamogga: The police ended up opening fire after an abduction-accused assaulted them while he was being escorted by the cops at Holaloor village here.
The cops were bringing Asif, an abduction accused, from Davangere to Shivamogga when the latter attacked the cops with stones in a bid to escape.
This left three policemen injured and to foil his bid, the cops fired at his leg.
Asif has been taken to a hospital in Shivamogga and is recuperating.
