Shivamogga: The police lathi charged Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party workers on Monday, April 29, during the election for the Directors' post of Shivamogga Milk Union Limited (SHIMUL).
The polling which started peacefully, later ended up in a scuffle between the supporters of the candidates, following news that the voters were being lured with cash and freebies. There are also reports of fights in Davangere during the election.
Reportedly, the Congress and BJP supporters were involved in petty quarrels near SHIMUL gate since this morning and things only got ugly during the later hours as the supporters of both the parties got physical.
Finally, the police had to cane the crowd to stop the fight.
